Video: NSRI Offshore Rescue Craft
The NSRI’s sixth Offshore Rescue Craft (ORC), known as Rescue 6, embarks on its maiden voyage from Cape Town to Gqeberha on September 24, 2024. Built by Two Oceans Marine, this 14.8m long, 4.8m wide rescue vessel is designed for extreme maritime conditions and can operate up to 50 nautical miles from land. The vessel will arrive at its new station in Gqeberha on September 25, after a stop in Mossel Bay. The NSRI’s fleet upgrade aims to enhance rescue operations, and Rescue 6 will improve crew safety and capability.
