Launched in October 2013, HQ² is a 75-foot luxury sailing catamaran built by Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing and designed by Du Toit Yacht Design. She is the sailing sister ship to the 750E Power Catamaran (Quo Vadis) and the larger successor to the Two Oceans 650 Luxury Sailing Catamaran.
Custom-built for a family of five and two crew, HQ² offers a luxurious and comfortable home on the water, designed for extended global cruising. She is constructed using epoxy E-glass with a PVC foam core, a fixed keel, and custom-designed spade rudders for optimal performance.
Her open-plan layout includes a spacious saloon and galley fitted with premium appliances — including Miele and Smeg — and features a B&O sound system and 32-inch TV. Interior finishes include solid European oak soles and oak-veneered furniture. The aft cockpit features custom outdoor furniture, a bar area, a braai, and teak decking.
The flybridge, equipped with electric Harken winches and Spinlock jammers, offers comfortable piloting from Besenzoni chairs and includes a lounge area and a WaterRower for onboard fitness.
HQ² carries two tenders: a 6-metre Gemini Waverider with twin 75 HP Yamahas on the aft deck, launched via boom crane, and a smaller foredeck tender with a 15 HP Yamaha. She also features ample storage for dive gear and toys. Two Yanmar 240 HP engines drive 26″ 4-blade Varifold props, with a bow thruster for easy docking.
Her impressive rig, nearly 34 metres in height, was built by Southern Spars and features a full Ullman Sails suite — mainsail, jib, screecher, spinnaker, and storm jib.
Below deck, HQ² offers generous accommodation for up to 12 guests. The port hull houses the owner’s suite aft, a guest suite forward, and crew cabin forwardmost. The starboard hull has a guest suite aft, children’s cabins with bunks, a convertible v-berth, and a day head.
HQ² exemplifies the synergy between owner, designer, and builder — a luxurious, high-performance sailing catamaran that feels like home. She proved her capability in the 2014 Cape to Rio Yacht Race, arriving in pristine condition despite stormy weather that forced a third of the fleet to retire.
