On Wednesday, 1 June 2022, the fourth new Class 1 NSRI Offshore Rescue Craft (ORC) was successfully launched at the Port of Cape Town. Mark Hughes, NSRI Executive Director of Capital Projects, joined the team from Rescue 3 at the V&A Waterfront, along with representatives from Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing and Yacht Haulers—the experts responsible for transport and crane operations during the launch.

Following the launch, the vessel will undergo several weeks of sea trials and commissioning before being officially based at Rescue 3.
