Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing was proud to welcome Mayor Dan Plato and Alderman James Vos, Mayoral Committee Member: Economic Opportunities and Asset Management, to our factory today. The mayoral visit is part of the #InvestCapeTown initiative.

Cape Town’s boatbuilding industry is a key strategic sector to the city’s economy that attracts a positive trade balance and creates thousands of jobs:
Cape Town is the largest boat building city in South Africa and the second largest producer of recreational catamarans globally, after France. Cape Town’s boat building industry has grown by 28,8% year-on-year since 2012. The industry exports 90% of the products produced and attracts a positive trade balance of around US$73 million (over R1 billion) annually.

It was important for Mayor Dan Plato and Alderman James Vos to visit Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing because the company, which was founded in 1989, has evolved into one of South Africa’s leading custom catamaran manufacturing yards and one of a handful of big custom catamaran manufacturers in the world. Two Oceans Marine manufactures both power and sailing catamarans ranging from 7.3 m to 35 m in size – for cruising, leisure, day charter and commercial use. Read more about Two Oceans Marine here.
